Behind the Curtains of Oz: From AI Myths to AI Truths

  • Center for Science and Thought 1-3 Konrad-Zuse-Platz Bonn, NRW, 53227 Germany (map)

Conference

Join us for a thought-provoking morning at the Center for Science and Thought, where leading AI scholars and experts take on some of the most overused terms in AI discourse—and dismantle them.

Each speaker will critically examine one buzzword or phrase—like Responsible AI, Human-Centered AI, Superintelligence—and challenge its meaning, assumptions, and implications. In just 10-15 minutes per talk, we’ll strip away the rhetoric and uncover what truly makes AI desirable—if anything does.

Speakers:

  • Markus Gabriel, Uni Bonn, Professor of Epistemology, Modern, and Contemporary Philosophy, Director of CST

  • Wakanyi Hoffman, Utrecht University, Head of Sustainable AI Africa Research at Inclusive AI Lab

  • Maximilian Kiener, TU Hamburg, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics in Technology

  • Alois Krtil, CEO, Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg e.V. (ARIC)

  • Dagmar Monett Díaz, Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin, Professor of Computer Science

Hosted by Ana Ilievska, Uni Bonn, Senior Research Fellow at CST
